For those of you who recently traveled to Okinawa, have you spotted Miku – Hatsune Miku? It turns out Okinawa and Hatsune Miku have collaborated for the first time, holding "CHURA MIKU STREET" from March 9th to June 1st, a series of events along Okinawa's popular tourist route, Kokusai-dori (International Street) No. 39! Fans of Miku and Vocaloid shouldn't miss it when they travel to Okinawa!

"CHURA" is the Okinawan word for beauty. "MIKU" is a homophone for "39," and "MIKU STREET" refers to Kokusai Street on Prefectural Route 39. This event also features a key visual by "Hagoromo-mama"—illustrator and VTuber Shigure Hagoromo! Miku, dressed in Ryukyu traditional clothing, is incredibly cute, and you can feel the warmth of Okinawa even through the screen. Without further ado, let's explore Kokusai Street with Miku!

Food trip [Hatsune Miku×Okinawa]

Hatsune Miku will be collaborating with various local restaurants in Okinawa to release limited-edition menus. The food and drinks will each have their own unique characteristics, including many featuring Miku's specialties! Speaking of Miku, this is definitely a must-have...

During the event, stamp stations will be set up throughout Kokusai Street, allowing visitors to collect stamps while exploring the street. Each stamp is unique, depicting Miku's adventures throughout Okinawa—they're all incredibly cute! You can purchase a stamp collection card at the CHURA MIKU STREET POP UP SHOP. After collecting all six stamps, you'll receive a limited-edition commemorative instant photo! Come explore Kokusai Street with Miku and create wonderful memories!

Of course, you have to collect as many souvenirs as possible when you come here! A limited-time CHURA MIKU STREET POP UP SHOP has been set up at the Naha OPA, which has a lot of limited-edition merchandise for this event, including acrylic charms, standees, badges, B2 wall hangings and more. Every single one of them is very beautiful!

The event will feature many classic Okinawan souvenirs, including Kincho chocolate*, Sha Weng*, and the currently popular "Wind Lion Cookies*," all special edition products developed in collaboration with Hatsune Miku, featuring her signature blue-green color! They make great souvenirs too!

The most special items are the Ryukyu glass cup* and the Yaeyama cotton narrow-woven coaster*, both crafted using traditional Okinawan techniques. Each piece is handmade, making them unique! Ryukyu glass is a traditional craft made using glassblowing techniques, where air is blown into molten glass using a blowtorch. The clear glass evokes the ocean and waves of Okinawa, while the blue-green hue of Miku makes this product even more beautiful! Yaeyama cotton narrow-woven fabric is a cotton fabric commonly worn in the Yaeyama region of Okinawa since the Ryukyu Kingdom and is designated as a national traditional craft. This coaster features Miku as its theme and is woven using the Yaeyama cotton narrow-woven technique.

During the event, anyone who purchases the collaboration menu, collaboration products, or other eligible items will receive a special gift: a limited-edition Hatsune Miku Okinawa instant photo! The instant photo will be awarded based on the type of product purchased! For example, purchasing green onion soba noodles will grant you an instant photo of Miku eating soba noodles, allowing you to relive your wonderful memories of traveling with Miku anytime!

Okinawa Miku's timekeeping

During the event, Miku will announce the time on the large advertising screen on Kokusai Street at 8:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. At that time, Miku dressed in Okinawan attire will appear on the big screen and announce the time with everyone in Okinawan dialect!

Virtual Okinawa: OKINAWA BEAT SQUALL for Hatsune Miku

CHURA MIKU STREET also held an event in the virtual world: OKINAWA BEAT SQUALL for Hatsune Miku! You can relive the stage performance from March 16th. Miku danced in an adorable Ryu outfit, performing Okinawan-style songs "Taiyo Disco," "Vanpaia," "Tell Your World," and "Melto."

Many Okinawa residents who participated in the event felt deeply moved, realizing that Miku had truly come to Okinawa. This collaboration will run until June 1st, so those planning a trip to Okinawa shouldn't miss it!
